When you schedule an eye exam at Ultimate Eyecare Santa Fe, you can expect personalized care from our expert eye doctors. We use the latest diagnostic technology to evaluate your eye health and vision, ensuring that any issues are detected early when treatment is most effective. From checking for common conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration to assessing your overall eye health, we will take the time to thoroughly examine your eyes and answer any questions you may have.

When you schedule an exam, we’ll send you a text 7 days ahead of time. Please confirm when you receive the text. We’ll then send you a reminder text 3 days ahead of time. At that point, if you haven’t confirmed, please do so. If you don’t confirm the appointment, we will cancel it on your behalf.

What to remember for your eye exam

  • Know your medical history and list of current medications.
  • Know your current symptoms and be able to describe them. Consider writing down a list of symptoms ahead of time so that you can provide our team with as much detail as possible.
  • Know your family history: Some eye diseases, such as glaucoma and cataracts, have a genetic component and tend to run in families.
  • Ask about insurance coverage and payment options: It is always a good idea to ask about your vision or medical insurance plans ahead of time and to know if a co-pay will be due at the time of your appointment. Visit our Insurance & Payment page for a list of accepted insurance providers and payment options.
  • When coming in for your appointment, be sure to bring along your medical insurance card, ID, and method of payment if necessary. If you are a new patient, don’t forget to bring along your most recent prescription for contact lenses or glasses.
  • Bring your corrective eyewear to the exam: If you currently wear glasses or contact lenses, remember to bring them with you to the exam. This will allow our team to assess how well they are working for you and whether any adjustments need to be made.
  • If your eyes will be dilated, make sure to bring proper eye protection, such as sunglasses, for after your appointment.

Required Retinal Imaging

Our eye doctors will conduct an Optomap retinal exam during your visit to obtain an Optos wide-field digital retinal image. The digital image will help your eye doctor view the health of your eye and monitor for any potential vision-threatening conditions. The digital screening images are only $39 plus tax and are not covered by medical or vision insurance. The charge will be added to the balance of your visit.

Cancellation | No Show Policy

Please give us at least 72 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your scheduled appointment. If you don’t show up for your appointment or cancel less than 72 hours before your appointment, you will be subject to a $50 fee that must be paid before being seen in our office. It’s important to note that insurance providers do not cover fees for missed appointments.
